Where’s The System Admin..
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008Yea, so where’s the system administrator when you need one?!? Shared my support work time fiddling with our server at office.
Atlantis rolled over and died last week.. I’m now trying to raise if from the dead.. Sounds catchy eh?!? Being the support engineer, slightly a mentor and mostly a system administrator has really taken a toll on me today. Standing in a server room is never a fun thing to do.. Especially when the keyboard and the monitor is weirdly configured..
Oh well, it’s part of a very big learning process on how to setup a server for people to use. Learned something today also. I was struggling on how to set $JAVA_HOME globally. I’ve always set my desktop’s $JAVA_HOME at ~/.bashrc which is not a good method of doing so. Googling taught me to set it at /etc/bash.bashrc.
